Spent a lovely Thursday morning last week at Becasse Bakery at Ion Orchard with the Ion-Insider team and eight other lifestyle bloggers for a pampered breakfast before the start of the insightful workshop. It is always refreshing and exciting to attend events like this as I get to meet like-minded individuals; all with the passion of taking photos, blogging and basically most of them are from the communications arena (which makes us all quite similar thankfully).
Participated in the Ion-Insider Blogger search awhile ago and was really happy to be shortlisted and to attend the workshop for further selection. Ion-Insider is basically a search for Ion Orchard's resident blogger, who will get exclusive and first hand information and entry to new products, stores and events, for their upcoming new online blog in July.
The friendly owner of Becasse Bakery provided us with a detailed introduction of the food before we proceeded on to our photo-taking routine. We were extremely excited to see platters and plates of food being dished out from the kitchen. Even though it was early in the morning, all pastries and bread are freshly hand-crafted daily at the bakery by their artisan bakers.

Banana Tart with Salted Peanuts
This afternoon high tea set is available from 3pm-6pm and it includes an exclusive selection of Becasse savory and sweet favourites served with your choice of tea. I like the fact that the bakery is situated at the fourth level, which means that it is away from the basement crowd, and that's where you could enjoy some peaceful moments with your friends over teas and pastries.
I felt extremely pampered that morning, having yummy and pretty food right before me. Some of my favourites are: King Crab Briche Sandwich (extremely thumbs up for its fresh meat and soft bread), Foie Gras Mousse toast, Hazelnut Cappuccino Creme Pot (100% rich chocolate and nutella taste) and the macarons.
On Brioche bread served with truffle oil baked eggs
The baked eggs were deliciously tasty and I like how this dish brings an interesting twist to the average breakfast sets with bread and poached eggs.
Mixed berry French toast
served with poached pear and fresh ricotta
Following behind eggs, my next favourite breakfast is french toast. Nothing to complain about the extraordinarily creative idea of mixing fruits with toast.
Pulled Chicken Crepe
served with fresh spinach and wild mushrooms
A special dish that could rarely be found in most cafes in Singapore. The combination of the soft crepe skin and the savory mushrooms, chicken and veggies was delightful.
served with smoked salmon, baked spinach and hollandaise sauce
This is my favourite and never can I resist poached eggs sitting on a pile of soft bread and fresh salmon. Enough said.

Had a lovely morning of yummy food and the company of new friends before we geared ourselves up for an exciting workshop and tour at three of the stores in Ion Orchard; Crate and Barrel, VOM FASS and Penhaligon's. Thank you Coleen and Chermaine from Ion Orchard and Zoe from Vocanic once again for the invitation, allowing me to have such an enjoyable breakfast and firsthand experience at the stores. More about the workshop will be covered in the next post!
