Cafe visits: Saveur and Medzs Bistro & Bar

---------------------------------------------

Saveur

Finally, Saveur, here I come! Caught up with the JC girls over dinner (head over before 6.30pm to avoid the dinner crowd, if not you might have to wait quite a bit) a few weeks back. Have been hearing so much about their food and the reasonable prices! Indeed, it wasn't a disappointment and was pretty decent and satisfying.

Saveur's pasta $4.90
Chili oil, finely chopped kombu, minced pork sauce, chives & sakura ebi

This is a must-try dish if you ever head down to Saveur. The angel hair pasta is of really good texture. Personally, I think the bulk of the taste of this dish credits to the sauce and the crispy sakura ebi sprinkled on top. After a few bites, you might relate the taste to a plate of fried mee, but definitely this beats hands down.

Duck Confit $12.90
Mashed Potato, Saute Shitake with parsley, orange segments & orange-infused natural juice

That's right, what you see is what you get. I would definitely go back to have this dish again. Recommended and praised by almost everyone who has been there, the duck confit definitely deserves all the praises. The meat is tender and soft, while balancing with the crispy skin on the exterior. It sits perfectly on top of a warm pile of mashed potato and mushrooms at the side. There's nothing more to complain about,

Seabass $14.90
Pan-seared, Saute potato with crab meat, french beans & caper vinaigrette

Seabass is one of my favourite kind of fish simply because they have minimal or no bones. What surprised me was that the flesh is juicy and soft, same goes for the cubes of crab meat hidden below the pile. Another prize goes to the nicely roasted potatoes which gave the whole dish a tinge of saltiness.

Medzs Bistro and Bar

Cafe-hopped during lunch hour with my cafe-hopping working buddy some time back! Now, who says there isn't good food in CBD area. Surprisingly, there is a lot of cafes springing up in Raffles Place so once in a while when I'm really sick of hawker centre food, I'll head to some cafe to enjoy a slower pace during that hour.
