Brunch at Rise & Grind

Right outside Bukit Timah Plaza, at a quiet corner near the Taxi stand, lies Rise and Grind, a relatively new cafe that I had the chance (finally) to try out one Saturday morning. Due to the small interior space, there's an additional outdoor space so that the cafe could easily house up to almost 30 pax in total. Credits go to any cafe who bothers to decorate their tables with baby breaths in craft beer bottles and potted plants. And extra credits go to cafes with no additional GST or service taxes.

They have quite an extensive range food on their menu, such as breakfast and brunch, finger food, burgers, mains and desserts. They even have kid's menu, how cute! Considering the size of the cafe, it is quite impressive to have such a full range of food.

I decided to go with the Pulled Pork Benedict ($15) because it sounds really good, doesn't it. The savory slow cooked pork shoulder was shredded and went really well with the poached eggs, apple cider hollandaise sauce.

If you have been following my cafe food posts, you would have realized by now that I'm exceptionally particular about my toast, especially sourdough toasts, as they can be really hard and tough to eat. This, however, is just nice and soft enough to cut into slices. The pork slices tasted a little like those from a Chinese or Japanese restaurant, though not to say that it isn't nice.

We fell to great disappointment when we realized that their sweet potato fries were not available when we were there. Hence, we requested for normal fries instead. Their Sweet Potato Fries ($10) come with mentaiko mayonnaise sauce and nori seaweed too, and I think they are pretty up to some standard, so try it for yourself if you are fans of sweet potato fries and mentaiko sauce. Anything with mentaiko sauce and seaweed will be good, don't you think?

Would definitely head back to Rise and Grind some other weekends to try out their burgers and sweet potato fries!
